4. Malawi
Malawi is a landlocked country in southern Africa. Often forgotten in lue of her sister countries Kenya and Tanzania, Malawi is a great destination if you love outdoor activities.
With a geographically diverse landscape, it really is a special place to explore; from the impressive peaks of Mount Mulanje to the sprawling grasslands of the Nyika Plateau, and Lake Malawi.
You can take hikes through its enormous and beautiful landscape or go kayaking.

5. Lamu
The tranquil island of Lamu is one of the oldest towns in East Africa. This beautiful old island boast of cultural influences from Europe, Arabia and India.
Lamu is characterized by narrow streets that can be explored on foot or by donkey and old stone buildings with curved doors.
You will also love the Maulidi festival that takes place every year. This festival brings together seven centuries of tradition and culture.

6. Pemba Island
This wonderful paradise is 100 kilometers outside of Zanzibar Island. You can take a 30 minute flight from Stone Town, Zanzibar to get you to the island.
Off the coast of Tanzania, Pemba Island is characterized by amazing crystal white sandy beaches, diverse marine life and beautiful coral reefs.
This island is ideal if you prefer a less crowded atmosphere since it gets fewer visitors than Zanzibar island.
7. Gambia
Another one of Africa’s little gems; Gambia is a relatively small country and like many of the destinations on this list Gambia has an abundant wildlife population.
The top two national parks you must visit are Kiang West National Park and Bao Bolong Wetland Reserve where you will see hippos, leopards, monkeys and an array of rare bird species.
