Why Visiting Uganda Should Feature in Your Bucket List
For the longest time now, Uganda has been hailed as the pearl of Africa. It easy to see why once you set you eyes on the marvelous mountains and ever green vegetation. There are very many reasons why you should visit this tropical paradise.

1. The primates
Uganda boasts having more than half of the mountain Gorilla population in the world, about 53%. With the Gorilla population steadily declining, the Ugandan government has made it a priority to protect these magnificent beasts in their natural habitat. In Uganda the gorillas can only be found in Bwindi Impenetrable national park.
The rest can be found in Rwanda and Virunga forest in Congo. In addition to the gorillas take a chimp trek and watch over 10 species of chimps that the country has to offer. This provides for a once in a lifetime experience.
2. The wildlife
On top of that Uganda is also home to the Big Five and more. These include lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos,hippos, monkeys, snakes, Nile crocodiles (the largest fresh water predators in the Africa)… the list goes on and on.
The rhinos are endangered and therefore have their own sanctuary (Ziwa rhino sanctuary) that houses both the white and black rhino.

2. The people
If you love to go off the beaten path, then Uganda is the destination for you. The people of Uganda are among the most diverse and friendly you will ever find. It is here that you can take treks off the beaten path and explore the different tribes and cultures that call this tropical paradise home.
Dare yourself to learn a new language. Tickle your taste buds with foods prepared by different tribes and not forgetting the diverse culture that has traditions that date back to thousands of years ago. It will surprise you.
3. Bird watching
Bird watchers know how exciting it is to spot a rare bird in its nest or taking flight to go hunting. Bird watching enthusiasts are in for a treat. With 10% of the world population of birds and 50% of Africa’s total bird population, it is no wonder that Uganda is one of the top birding destinations in Africa.
Come marvel at the different rare birds like the Shoebill, Archer’s Robin Chat,Green Breasted Patta, African Green Broadbill among others.
4. The scenery
You would think that being landlocked Uganda wouldn’t have much to offer but I have some news for you, the Ugandan scenery is one of the most beautiful to behold.
Nothing can compare to the luscious green terraced hills that line the southwestern region, or the mountains whose peaks tower over the land and disappear into the clouds. Explore the many nature walks available for all you nature lovers as several monkey species swing over your heads from trees.
5. The food
Vegetarians roll up your sleeves because you are in for a treat. As you may know, Uganda is an agricultural country and enjoys the benefits of having very fertile soil and a conducive climate to farm. Treat yourself to the many traditional dishes served across the country with fresh ingredients straight from the garden to your table.
